Beyond the Basics

Beyond the Basics

NAME OF ACTIVITY:  Key Club

SCHOOL: Moline High School

COORDINATORS:   Melissa Davila & Lindsay Meeker

WHY DO WE LIKE OVERSEEING THIS ACTIVITY?

Key Club is an organization that is designed to promote leadership and philanthropy in young people - so it is amazing!  Key Club is an international organization for youth that coordinates with Kiwanis. Moline High School’s Key club works closely with the Moline Kiwanis Club.  As sponsors, we get the opportunity to work with some of the most outstanding students in the community to make a difference, and that is extraordinary.

As a club, students participate in The Riverbend Food Bank Student Food Drive, United Way Youth Campaign, United Way Day of Caring.

It is a great to feeling to watch students develop into fabulous, thoughtful, contributors to society. The club allows the opportunity to interact with children on a different level, and connect to the community.

PURPOSE AND BACKGROUND OF THE ACTIVITY:

The purpose of Key Club is to promote leadership and philanthropy among the students, and in the community.  It is a nationally recognized organization affiliated with Kiwanis.  At Moline High School, our main endeavors include Riverbend Student Hunger Drive, United Way Youth Campaign, and American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
